This page has longer descriptions of each page in the navigation bar, plus links to the pages that are not on the navigation bar. We hope you don't have to use it very much. If you have problems, please send a message to our Webmaster. We put the Navigation bar on the left for your convenience. You may see what you want there before you scroll down to the long description. We put the Navigation bar links in the order we thought would be most important to first-time visitors. Home: The main or front page. About Us Pages about our fellowship itself:
Minister: Rev. Grace Simons. Biography, picture and selected sermons. Sunday Services: Sermon Topics. We usually have about eight Sundays here. One to four of them will be upcoming. The remainder will give you an idea of what we talk about. In December, this pages lists Advent Vespers and Christmas Eve services, even if they don't occur on a Sunday. What's New on the web site; additions and updates we made in the last three months. UU Beliefs: We are sometimes called "The church that doesn't believe in anything." This page has some of our beliefs. Related, but on separate pages, are:
Calendar and News: News about the church, bulletins and announcements from committees. Children's programs: What they do in general, a schedule of Religious Education topics, our 170-year old mission statement, an editorial comment about mission statements and courage, and some links we thought kids would like. FAQ: Questions and Answers for people thinking about visiting us for the first time. It has a joke about an agnostic. History of our Congregation:
Links:
Links to other UU organizations,
including the Unitarian-Universalist Association of North America,
the Pacific Coast District and our neighboring UU congregations. Map: This page has a map and driving directions for visitors from Modesto and out of town. It also has a link to MapQuest.com for those of you who just need a map of Modesto or Stanislaus County. Site Map. Here. Members: We asked our members to describe themselves in two or three lines. We thought seeing what we did would have more effect than seeing what we said. We wanted to make a good impression on visitors, naturally, so it's heavy on offices held in volunteer organizations and light on our faults as housekeepers. Dull people have immaculate homes. News and Calendar: This link on the navigationbar is just a repeat of "Calendar and News", above. Some people look for Calendar, some for News. Religious Education for Adults:
Guest Sermons: A small selection of sermons, lectures and talks from lay people. This page has its own section map. Our Minister's Sermons are on another page. Social Action: What our members are doing to make the world a better place. Font and Text size: A page about our font and text size. We let you choose it. Some pages that do not appear on the Navigation bar: Chalice Lighters, a PCD program to let people who can't do everything, do one thing. More About Us A one-page summary of our church for people who found us by accident. About 60% of our visitors are looking for a map of Modesto or news of Modesto. Do you Want . . . ? A list of our strengths and weaknesses for people who are looking for a church. |
