A liberal religious voice in the Central Valley since 1953.

Gold flaming chalice with purple rings Several UU districts run a program named Chalice Lighters. Chalice Lighters are people who light one candle instead of cursing the darkness. They contribute a small, set amount to "Promote and Strengthen Unitarian Universalism" several times a year. The amounts and timing vary by district. In our Pacific Central District (PCD), Chalice Lighters contribute as little as $10, three times a year. The money goes to congregations in our district for projects designed to promote growth of the congregation.

Our congregation received a Chalice Lighter grant to pay a professional accompanist, for instance. Other grants to other congregations go towards projects such as part-time professional ministers, building additions, and publicity campaigns.
