What's New

Comments, questions or problems:

A liberal religious voice in the Central Valley since 1953.

Our site sometimes come up first when people Google "news of Modesto". We suggest The Modesto Bee, for that. If you believe that most religions are different paths up the same mountain, you may want to learn more about us, even though you found us by accident.

We split Calendar and News into two pages June 20, 2010. Our News page has pictures and news of past events. Most of these are upcoming events.

We have complete details for these events in the newsletter, or you can call the church between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday, at (209) 545-1837.

Services: We meet on Sundays:
One service, at 10:00 am, May 30 - September 5, 2010.
Two services, at 9:30 and 11:00 am, starting September 12, 2010.

Service Topics are on their own page.
Traffic tips for one service and two services.

Christina's in Turlock

Come join me for an informal gathering at Christina's in Turlock on Tuesday, September 14th. It's on West Canal, just west of Golden State. Time: 10:00 am. We'll relax and enjoy each other's company. No set agenda; no required reading; no homework! You don't even have to drink coffee! They have a nice little patio, so we'll be outside if it's nice, inside if we need the A/C.

Fall Council Meeting
Saturday, September 18, 2010

The UUFSC Church Council will hold its fall meeting on Saturday, September 18th from 8:30 till noon. As usual, we will meet in the Johnson Room. All committees, task forces and "independent contractors" are invited to have representatives present. This is our chance to put our heads together and plan for the new church year. Church Council meetings are all about the C's - Communication, Collaboration, Calendaring, Connection and so on. If you like to know what's going on around the Fellowship, this is the place to be! Coffee and breakfast items will be waiting - come join us!

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Meet in the Johnson Room at 12:30. We'll treat you to lunch and provide child care. Please call our administrator at (209) 545-1837 or send her an e-mail message: telling her you are planning to come, so we know how many sandwiches to buy, and if you will need child care, so we can make arrangements.
This is an introduction to our denomination in general and our congregation in particular. While it is designed for those who are considering joining us, you are welcome to come if you are just curious. You do not have to join if you attend, but we strongly suggest you attend if you would like to join. See the Orientation page for details.

H - L: Fruit salad or green salad plus your own meat
M - S: Side dish plus your own meat

(In 2009 people overlooked the "plus your own meat" part because we put it in just once, at the top.)

[Ed. Note: This page was as boring to compose as it must be to read. There is a time for soaring prose and a time to put as many facts as you can, clearly and plainly. No one reads a bus schedule for fun. If you want to read something creative, try the editorial comment about courage on our Children's page.]
